Wikipedia Articles
- Human brain - The human brain controls the central nervous system (CNS), by way of the cranial nerves and spinal cord, the peripheral nervous system (PNS) and regulates virtually all human activity. Involuntary, or "lower," actions, such as heart rate, respiration, and digestion, are unconsciously governed by the brain, specifically through the autonomic nervous system.
- Myeloarchitecture - The myeloarchitecture of CNS tissues refers to the structures and anatomical features associated with the myelin sheaths of neuronal axons. More generally, this refers to white matter (which is white because of high myelin concentration) and tissues associated with connectivity between brain regions.
- Experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis - Experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis (EAE) is an animal model of brain inflammation. It is an inflammatory demyelinating disease of the central nervous system (CNS).
- Peripheral nervous system - The Peripheral nervous system resides or extends outside the "CNS" central nervous system (the brain and spinal cord) to serve the limbs and organs. Unlike the central nervous system, however, the PNS is not protected by bone, leaving it exposed to toxins and mechanical injuries.
- Central nervous system - The central nervous system (CNS) represents the largest part of the nervous system, including the brain and the spinal cord. Together with the peripheral nervous system, it has a fundamental role in the control of behavior.
