Wikipedia Articles
- Inertial navigation system - An inertial-navigation system is a navigation aid that uses a computer and motion sensors to continuously track the position, orientation, and velocity (direction and speed of movement) of a vehicle without the need for external references. Other terms used to refer to inertial navigation systems or closely related devices include inertial guidance system, inertial reference platform, and many other variations.
- Non-inertial reference frame - A non-inertial reference frame is one in which a body is observed to violate Newton's Laws of Motion, see inertial frame. The prime example of such a non-inertial frame is one using "earth fixed" coordinates, in which body motion is measured with respect to points on the (rotating in space) earth.
- Miniature Inertial Measurement Unit (MIMU) - Miniature Inertial Measurement Unit (MIMU) is an Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) developed and built by Honeywell International to control and stabilize spacecraft during mission operations. MIMUs can also be configured to perform as an Inertial Reference Unit (IRU).
- Systron Donner Inertial - Systron Donner Inertial has been a supplier of aerospace inertial sensors and systems for more than fifty years. SDI products include angular rate sensors (MEMS gyroscope), Inertial Measurement Units (IMU), and GPS/INS (GPS-aided INS) systems.
- Inertial Reference Unit - An Inertial Reference Unit (IRU) is a type of inertial sensor which uses only gyroscopes to determine a moving aircraft’s or spacecraft’s change in angular direction (referred to as "delta-theta" or Δθ) over a period of time. Unlike the Inertial Measurement Unit, IRUs are generally not equipped with accelerometers, which measure acceleration forces.
