- Cautes and Cautopates - Cautes and Cautopates are the two attendants of Mithras in the ancient Roman cult of Mithraism. Because Mithras (Sol Invictus, Latin: the invincible sun) represents the sun Cautes and Cautopates represent the stations of sunrise and sunset respectively.
