- International Federation of Palynological Societies - The International Federation of Palynological Societies (IFPS) is a federation of regional, national, linguistic, and specialist palynological organizations of the world. Its goals are to advance knowledge in palynology and related subjects by promotion of international cooperation and sponsorship of regular meetings between palynologists of all countries and regions.
- American Association of Stratigraphic Palynologists (AASP) - Established in 1967 to promote the science of palynology. Publishes the journal Palynology (annually), the AASP Newsletter (quarterly), and the AASP Contributions Series (mostly monographs, issued irregularly), as well as several books and miscellaneous items. AASP also organises an Annual Meeting which usually includes a field trip, a business luncheon, social events, and technical sessions where research results are presented on all aspects of palynology.

- Palynology - Palynology is the science that studies contemporary and fossil palynomorphs, including pollen, spores, dinoflagellate cysts, acritarchs, chitinozoans and scolecodonts, together with particulate organic matter (POM) and kerogen found in sedimentary rocks and sediments. Palynology does not include diatoms, foraminiferans or other organisms with silicaceous or calcareous exoskeletons.
- Forensic palynology - Forensic palynology is the study of pollen and powdered minerals, their identification, and where and when they occur, to ascertain that a body or other object was in a certain place at a certain time. For instance, a dead body may be found in a wood, and the clothes may ...
- Lennart von Post - Ernst Jakob Lennart von Post (June 16 1884-January 11 1951) was a Swedish geologist. He was the first to publish quantitative analysis of pollen and is counted as one of the founders of palynology.
- Environmental archaeology - Environmental archaeology is the study of the long-term relationship between humans and their environments. Various sub-disciplines are involved to document and interpret this relationship, including paleoethnobotany, geomorphology, palynology, geophysics, landscape archaeology, human biology and human ecology.
- Colpus - A colpus (plural: colpi) is the name for a groove sometimes occurring on grains of pollen. The presence of colpi makes it easier to determine the species of plant that the pollen originates from, and is thus a great aid in palynology
