- Summerfield, KS Home Page - The railroad town that survived the death of its railroad. It was established by the now defunct Kansas City, Wyandotte and Northwestern Railroad. The town was named after the chief operations manager of the railroad, Elias Summerfield. The names of many of the streets carry names of railroad officials. The town was plotted and lots sold by the railroad. It was truly a railroad town. Imagine the blow to the town when the railroad folded in the 1920's.
